"The Bureau (Le Bureau des légendes)" - A French series on Amazon Prime
This French TV show is set within the DGSE, the French equivalent of the MI6, and follows the life of undercover agents abroad as well as agents working in the Parisian headquarters. The actor playing the role of the protagonist, Malotru, is Matthieu Kassovitz (the director of La Haine).
Why I recommend this:
It’s a gripping, yet realistic TV show: it is based upon real accounts by former spies, inspired by contemporary agents, and gives you a glimpse of the reality of the life of civil servants working from the DGSE.
You’ll learn lots of French slang if you watch this TV show, as well as lots of old-fashioned insults: all agents’ codenames are inspired by insults given by Captain Haddock in Tintin.
