My tip: LEARNING GERMAN WITH MUSIC

By studying German, I was able to get very close to Germanic culture including music. Not only have I been able to discover many famous groups who are known around the world, but I have also managed to create a mental mechanism in order to better remember the words with the lyrics of the German songs.

Let's be honest, learning German with music is much more fun instead of spending hours on the books! And singing the songs will help remember words and grammatical rules. My absolute favourite group is Rammstein and I'd like to highlight the song “Ohne Dich” (the video below comes with lyrics included). In addition to Rammstein, there are groups such as “Die Toten Hosen”, “Nevada Tan” (they changed the name, then, in Panik), “Killerpilze”, “Isolation Berlin” and singers such as Nena (her famous 99 Luftballons), LaFee, Lena, Namika, etc.

Useful tips

  • Watch videos with text on youtube
  • Read lyrics and translations of the songs you listen to (better if the translation is in front of the text, to compare them)
  • Try singing your favourite songs, first with and then without text
  • Write down new and useful expressions and words
